Setting the Record Straight

Dear Neighbors,

We believe that a strong neighborhood thrives on clear communication and mutual understanding. Recently, we’ve noticed some divisive rhetoric circulating about our PAC, Truth and Accuracy Matter—specifically regarding our mission and activities.

Our core mission is to empower the residents of the Town of Melbourne Beach with accurate, fact-based information about local issues. We are committed to fostering a positive community dialogue that prioritizes truth over opinion.

Unfortunately, there have been some misleading statements made about us recently. While we understand that not everyone may fully grasp our objectives, we want to clarify these points:

  • We have not “launched a propaganda campaign”. As a matter of fact, that is the exact opposite of who we are.

  • We do not “support a giant pier and/or gazebo at the end of the Sixth Ave boat ramp”. We support  a small dock at the 6th Ave boat ramp for accessibility and safety. The proposed installation by a structural engineer who is a long-time resident of the Town has our support.

  • We do not “want to infest our Town with short term rentals”. The fact is, we support limiting and regulating short term rentals in our Town.

  • We have no vote in the hiring or evaluation of the Town Manager, nor the compensation package of the contract.

  • There was never a proposal by former Commissioner Quarrie to “trample Loggerhead Park and make it a parking lot for golf carts”. The Commissioner’s suggestion was for small dog park utilizing a limited portion of Loggerhead Preserve along the edge of A1A.

We support open dialogue and ideas from both the Commissioners and the residents in order to discover the feasibility of various projects and initiatives around Town.

It must be stated that many residents are deeply offended by the statements that appear to deliberately undermine the professional integrity of certain people within our PAC. Examples: realtors, investors, builders, and short term rental owners. Most people use realtors to purchase their home. Wise people use investors to help manage their money. Builders built our homes. Short term rental owners run small businesses, similar to the other 250 home-based businesses that we have in our Town. These malicious efforts to diminish the careers and reputations of any individual are unwarranted and divisive!

Let’s focus on building each other up rather than tearing down with misinformation. Together, we can work toward common goals that benefit everyone in our neighborhood.
