Truth and Accuracy Matter, along with Florida Fields to Forks, is thrilled to announce the impressive outcomes of our holiday Food Drive! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the residents of Melbourne Beach for your unwavering support and generosity throughout this festive season. The incredible spirit of our community has truly united us.
With collaboration from local businesses and Town Hall, Truth and Accuracy Matter (TAAM) proudly organized the first food drive in recent memory. This initiative aimed not only to assist families in Brevard County facing food insecurity but also to foster a sense of togetherness through acts of giving.
The outpouring of generosity from our neighbors was remarkable—over 1,300 pounds of food were collected, showcasing the kindness that defines the Town of Melbourne Beach. Local businesses played a vital role by providing convenient drop-off locations for shoppers wishing to contribute.
In addition to non-perishable food donations, we received $820.00 in cash contributions. A special thank you goes to Commissioner Quarrie for donating $300 from her remaining campaign funds, as well as Vice Mayor Cronin for rallying support during the screening of his film "Christmas in Vietnam," which brought in an additional $520 along with more food items donated by attendees.
All collected food and monetary donations were delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank just in time for Christmas distribution. We are especially grateful to Director Jorge Ortiz and his dedicated staff who tirelessly work to bring hope and joy to families across Brevard County. We look forward to collaborating again! This event not only provided essential assistance to many families but also rekindled a sense of fellowship within the Town of Melbourne Beach. Plans are already underway for future initiatives aimed at addressing local needs while strengthening community bonds.
