The Legacy of Hate
The DOGE initiative was launched by special order of Governor DeSantis and conducted statewide by the DOGE team and the Office of Policy and Budget, with assistance from the Department of Financial Services. The DOGE team requested financial and budget information from EVERY municipality and county in the State of Florida. DOGE’s recently released report identified mismanagement of taxpayer funds in multiple jurisdictions across Florida. However, the review found NO evidence of waste, fraud, abuse, or mismanagement in the Town of Melbourne Beach.
Florida’s Department of Government Efficiency (Florida DOGE) was established by Governor Ron DeSantis through Executive Order 25-44 to continue to advance his administration’s quest to provide Floridians with efficient and productive local governments. The statewide Florida DOGE effort at the municipal and county level focuses on identifying overspending, waste, fraud, and abuse, with the ultimate goal of reducing financial pressure on Floridians.
Mayor Dennington claimed the DOGE initiative is part of “her legacy” at the March 18th Regular Town Commission Meeting. The fact is, she had nothing to do with initiating Governor DeSantis’ Executive Order establishing DOGE on February 24, 2025 starting the statewide review of all local governments.
It was months later that Mayor Alison Dennington emailed the DOGE staff in Tallahassee to allege her perceived mismanagement within the Town of Melbourne Beach. DOGE’s examination found those allegations to be unfounded. Read Mayor Dennington’s lengthy and unhinged rant to the DOGE team by clicking the link to her April 15, 2025 email HERE.
Mayor Dennington would like the town residents to believe that the DOGE review was a targeted audit of the the Town of Melbourne Beach prompted by her email to the Department of Government Efficiency instead of the statewide initiative ordered by the Governor.
In January 2026, the Executive Office of the Governor, Department of Government Efficiency, released it’s report on local government spending. The Town of Melbourne Beach was NOT identified with any examples of wasteful spending or violations of law or policy. See attached report (CLICK HERE).
Mayor Dennington’s allegations of fraud were not identified by one of the State’s most sophisticated government agencies, proving that her complaints were a complete waste of time, money and reputation of our town. The mayor so badly wants the light to shine on her as the savior of our town as she sits piously in “her legacy.” A legacy that is purely in her own mind.
Let’s take a few examples from her email to DOGE to show how insignificant her concerns were…
#1) Mayor Dennington insisted that for years the Town fraudulently contracted with BSE Engineering firm for roadwork, yet today BSE Engineering remains as an approved vendor to the Town of Melbourne Beach. NO FRAUD WAS FOUND.
#2) Slanderous accusations were made about the former Town Manager, “She gives employees raises, bonus, time off, exceeds allowed comp time limits and pays out anyway.” “She also has for years explicitly and implicitly threatens and gets rid of anyone who doesn’t keep quiete (sic).” “She is grossly negligent on her job” “Created and cultivated a climate of employees who are terrified of her.” “Every employee but 1 that complained about the manager 10 or so in the last fees (sic) years was retaliated against and either fired, left or was paid off.” DENNINGTON HAS NO PROOF OF ANYTHING. DOGE FOUND NOTHING. ALL ACCUSATIONS PERSONALLY MOTIVATED in her effort to get rid of Elizabeth Mascaro. CLICK HERE to read Toxic Work Survey.
#3) “I have a 100 issues large and small I can cite. Lots budgetary - mostly its just beaucractic (sic) indifference.” “The lady (sic) budget cycle was a fiasco.” “Please please help.” HERE IS SOME ADVICE MAYOR…. Get a spell-check and grammar app. Your communications are embarrassing.
After reading this and witnessing Mayor Dennington’s angry meltdown at the March 18th RTCM, the contempt she holds for Elizabeth Mascaro couldn’t be more blatantly obvious by the words she used to describe the former Town Manager during the public meeting. Not once, but twice, Mayor Dennington, whose husband is a doctor, referred to Elizabeth Mascaro as, “A cancer to this Town.” See YOUTUBE at the 2:19:00 mark.
Mayor Dennington’s slanderous outburst clearly demonstrates what is her driving force… HATE. Hate corrodes both individuals and communities. Sadly, misery loves company and hate will always have its supporters. It narrows perception, fuels fear and aggression, and distorts empathy so people dehumanize others and justify harm. Readers need to ask themselves, why all the hatred in the Town of Melbourne Beach? THIS IS YOUR LEGACY Mayor Dennington.
