As The Town Turns, episode 3
Welcome back to “As the Town Turns,” where the pulse of our community beats through every twist and turn! In Episode 3, we pick up right where we left off, with residents buzzing about the placement of the new street signs adorning our main thoroughfares. While these shiny new markers are a welcome sight for some, there’s a growing sense of envy among those living on the internal streets who feel overlooked in this signage renaissance. As whispers of discontent circulate and neighbors rally for recognition, will they be able to bring their concerns to light? Join us as we dive into the heart of town drama and explore how a simple street sign has turned into a symbol of belonging - or exclusion.
The answer lies with HOW the new blue signs originated. When the paid parking was implemented at Ryckman Park, the revenues received were put in a separate fund (see Town budget item 351). These revenues came from non-residents visiting our Town. This money had very specific designation on how it could be spent. Street signs were included.
Earlier this year, Commissioner Tim Reed requested to move the parking revenues into the General Fund. As a result, street signs will not be expanded into the other areas of town. End of story.
“Let’s Talk Trash” instead…. Candidate Bruce Larson recently wrote a 300+ word dissertation on Nextdoor about “trash.” Jumping in to defend her husband while disparaging others, Bruce’s wife and Nextdoor moderator, Kristi Larson, did not hesitate in calling Truth and Accuracy Matter contributors, “liars and dishonest.” Candidate Steve Walters chimed in, saying, “The trash talk is in full swing.” Gail Gowdy, another biased Nextdoor moderator and Title Director of the group (see the name of Gowdy’s group on the bottom of the “trash” below) that supports Walters and Larson, added her two cents by saying, “I’ve never heard a derogatory comment by Bruce.”
Gail, most people would consider these comments to be derogatory: “…completely fabricated lies”, “We need to challenge whoever is throwing these trashy lies into our yards,” and, “these claims are lies.” ALL were written by Bruce Larson. CLICK HERE
The hypocrisy of their posts is emphasized by this piece of trash that was picked up from the gutter by a resident walking their dog:
Trash picked up from the street.
It’s almost laughable that their group did the same thing just days before. They hired teenagers to hand deliver their “trash” to residents’ doorsteps, later to discover that many of them littered the streets. Truth and Accuracy Matter gauged the weather to be certain that there would be no rain to wash our flyers away. We also planned to return the next day to pick up any of our flyers that were not retrieved by the homeowners. There weren’t many… but we got them!
As the Town Turns… Historically, it’s the same handful of characters that repeatedly have conversations with themselves on Nextdoor. When any of us do try to answer any of their accusations. or when neighbors try to respond and share their opinion about the comments posted, they are almost IMMEDIATELY removed by the biased moderators, Kristi & Gail. Gail and Kristi are BOTH major contributors to Bruce Larson’s campaign.
Truth and Accuracy Matter is obviously doing something right… we have 6,700 people following our website that have read our articles over 18,000 times. The residents of the Town of Melbourne Beach know the real truth!

How unfortunate it is, that instead of focusing on the good things and fun events going on in our town this past weekend, candidates Larson and Walters were whining about flyers that were distributed during an election. In the meantime, Candidate Quarrie was at our town’s popular October event, Fright Night, sponsored by the Melbourne Beach Fire Department. There were literally hundreds of residents there having a wonderful time. The Fire Department volunteers had fun activities all day long… including a cheerleading competition, hayrides for the children, Moos Ice Cream and other goodies. The biggest attraction of them all was FRIGHT NIGHT with people waiting in line for hours. WE DON’T WANT TO LOSE OUR HOMETOWN EVENTS. Vote CRONIN and QUARRIE on November 4th, candidates who CARE and are involved in our Town!
