Suspicion Haunts the Guilty Mind

Episode 4 of As The Town Turns introduces supporting actor, Marc Lower, a newcomer in Town. This episode takes a different twist as Bruce Larson is scrambling after many residents question his claim on his FOURTH political flyer that he will, “Balance today’s needs with future growth.” The scene opens with Marc sitting behind his keyboard frantically typing on Nextdoor in an attempt to quell the concerns among Larson’s supporters about his true intent. They didn’t sign up for THIS!

All this talk about future growth and commercial development in our town has the residents very suspicious about Bruce Larson’s connection to the Tallahassee PAC that is supporting his campaign.

This dark cloud of suspicion is swirling above Marc Lower’s head as he secretly questions, WHY did Bruce Larson hire Front Line Agency? They are an expensive political consulting firm out of Tallahassee! WHY is Bruce using them to run his campaign in “our tiny town”? This is the agency that is connected to Florida First Forever, Inc., a PAC also located in Tallahassee! Marc Lower suddenly remembers that FFF, Inc sent out the egregious email against Terry Cronin. Time to back pedal!!

Commercial Break sponsored by the Ostrich Foundation, “Avoid the Truth. Keep Your Head Buried in the Sand.”

And now… back to the show!

Enter stage left, Joanie Shepherd expresses her concerns. She is an active commercial real estate broker and wants to share her experience. She states, “desires to blow it up into three stories,” referring to Ocean Avenue, expounding on development details like “underground parking.” Marc listens intently and is confused when Bruce Larson agrees with Joanie Shepherd. The conversation continues when Bruce Larson excitedly states, “The Live Local Act was passed last year in Tallahassee,’ continuing on to say, “a developer could build up to three stories high. In order to meet parking and service access requirements, that means they would likely need to have parking under the structure — similar to how the “Breakers” condominiums are built.”

Marc wonders… is it possible that local real estate broker Joanie Shepherd and candidate Bruce Larson are working in cahoots with developers out of Tallahassee? Could Tallahassee be where the “money is coming from?” Marc pays close attention as Bruce Larson expounds on the legal particulars under the Live Local Act. He suddenly remembers that the only place where Bruce Larson has his political signs on Ocean Ave. is a vacant lot.

Reality sets in when Marc realizes that “all the retail and commercial areas in town have signs that only support the same two candidates.” It dawns on him that these retail and commercial businesses don’t want future growth to take away their businesses. THAT is why these local businesses all support Terry Cronin and Sherri Quarrie. Candidates Cronin and Quarrie love our small town charm and do not support future development!

Stay tuned for Episode 5 as the story continues to unfold…
