Children’s Christmas Parade
Truth and Accuracy Matter was thrilled to participate in the annual Children’s Christmas Parade this past Saturday morning! We donned our elf costumes, loaded up with candy and snap bracelets for the kids, dog treats for our furry friends and candy canes for the adults. We decorated our “float” with a giant Elf on a Shelf, a stack of presents and lots of cuddly teddy bears. Even the dogs got in the Christmas spirit, riding on the golf cart in their little holiday outfits!
There were other great participants in the parade… the Gemini cheerleaders, Melbourne Beach Fire and Rescue, Rock Harbor Church, the Town Commission float and of course Santa Clause!! We received many accolades and high fives for our efforts in the community as we walked along the parade route. One resident even said, “You are definitely on Santa’s GOOD list”! It was a fun and heartwarming experience to see so many of our neighbors enjoying the parade with their kids and friends. THIS is what the Town of Melbourne Beach is all about.
Here is what Commissioner Anna Butler has to say in her weekly email update:
Another beautiful day in paradise!
I won't take up too much of your time, but I wanted to share a couple of things with you.
Public Works has had all of its elves hard at work creating a Winter Wonderland in our historic beachside community, starting with the official lighting of the tree in Ryckman Park on December 5th, which led into yesterday's Christmas Parade. It was a blast decorating the float that Sean from Public Works expertly navigated, while Vice-Mayor Cronin, his lovely wife Ava, their precious dog and I waved and tossed candy and lollipops to the many, many families who came to see all of the floats, and, of course, Santa Clause (I need to bring more candy and some dog treats next year!) . What an honor it was to ride the float as a Commissioner of our Town! The effort and creativity of the floats participating in the parade were phenomenal. Thank you to all who participated in the parade, as you brought so much joy to the many children and adults who lined our streets. The Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department came out in force, parading our town's beautiful fire engine through the town for all to enjoy, followed by a spectacular pancake breakfast. Cheerleaders from Gemini Elementary showed off their expertise as the scent of pancakes on the griddle wafted through the air. These two events are such vivid reminders of why we've chosen to live and thrive in Melbourne Beach. Thank goodness the Commission was able to vote in support of the hybrid staffing structure for the Fire Department, as the alternative would have left a gaping hole in our community by forcing the elimination of these foundational events that bring us all together.
We have a Regular Town Commission Meeting at 6pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 and here is the link for the packet https://www.melbournebeachfl.org/files/assets/city/v/1/boards-amp-commission/town-commission/251217-rtcm-agenda-packet.pdf
We have a Special Town Commission Meeting on January 9, 2026 to interview five candidates for the permanent position of Melbourne Beach Town Manager. One of the five candidates to be interviewed is our current Interim Town Manager. This meeting will begin at 9am and is anticipated to continue throughout the day. If we choose to do so, we will be permitted to select and vote upon our selection for the position.
Thank you, as always!
Anna
Truth and Accuracy Matter is much more than a political action committee. We are involved in the lives of the residents because we are residents too! We aim to support the community in every way we can. The Food Drive is a perfect example! We initiated and organized the Food Drive and the response has been wonderful!! There is still time to bring non perishable items to one of the nine locations around town as well as Florida Fields to Forks. The last day is December 18th. At that time we will take all of the donations to Second Harvest Food Bank for them to distribute to those in need.
