Gratitude To Our Town Staff
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Town of Melbourne Beach, Town Manager Elizabeth Mascaro, and her devoted staff for their steadfast dedication to addressing essential community issues and fostering improvements. Their diligent efforts do not go unnoticed; the majority of residents truly value their work in enhancing our town and supporting one another. Two major initiatives are moving forward!
Excitement is mounting as contracts for stormwater enhancements in Basin 1 are now available for bidding, with submissions due by September 10 at 3:30 PM. This long-awaited initiative, fully funded and originally expected to commence in February, had encountered unnecessary delays. Residents of Basin 1, including Poinsettia, Magnolia, Banyan Way, and Hibiscus Trail, who have been grappling with ongoing flooding issues, are eager for construction to begin so these problems can be effectively addressed.
In a further step toward transparency and efficiency, the new Vacation Rental Portal is officially live! Residents can visit the Town website and navigate to: Departments > Vacation Rentals to access the Registration Portal or submit complaints through a monitored 24/7 hotline run by Deckard Technologies. Deckard will work directly with Shanna, our new code enforcement officer, ensuring prompt responses. Town Manager Elizabeth Mascaro stated, “Our new portal will enable vacation rental owners to register online. Furthermore, it will allow the town to closely monitor activities and track complaints through this efficient software system without any delay.”
Please keep in mind: For emergencies related to vacation rentals, always call 911 rather than using the portal.
Take note: an interactive map will be utilized by Town staff to distinguish between licensed and unlicensed short-term rentals, improving accountability.
These initiatives highlight the Town’s commitment to progress and responsiveness to resident needs. From flood mitigation efforts to improved regulatory measures, the Town of Melbourne Beach is advancing forward—thank you once again to Elizabeth Mascaro, her team, and all those advocating for a stronger and safer community.
